Abcolute Encoder options
Hi there.  I am trying to control a 270 degree potentiometer remotely.  I could either use a motor or a servo with a 2:1 gear attached to achieve the full 270 degree rotation I need.  In either case I would need a feedback encoder attached.  My trouble is that I cannot find a motor or servo that is small enough and has the encoder accuracy I need. (I need less than 35mm in diameter or width accross the face) And I need absolute position accuracy that cannot slip over time.  Once I set the positional settings in my control program, they have to stay that way for good.

Any suggestions?  Thanks very much!

Colin

Re: Abcolute Encoder options

Hey there,

I would suggest a stepper motor.  It has the holding power and accuracy that you need.

The Serializer can drive a bipolar stepper motor, in addition to servo and DC motors.  Both the Serializer and the supported bipolar stepper motor are sold on this site.
