I got one of the Traxter bases with the new motors, which are quite nice. Quiet and fast. However, I am using the base with some Rogue Robotics parts, most notably the low-cost H-bridge. I'm using a secondary power source, so that I am not drawing the motor power through the voltage regulator on the OOPic board, which would just about melt the thing in a few seconds. However, I should be able to send a value of 1-127 to the OOPic for the motor speed. In my testing, values less that 100 do nothing at all. Values from 100-120 or so, cause the motors to tick or whine, but the tracks don't turn. Values from 120-126 cause the left track to move very sluggishly, the right track shudders, and that's it. With a value of 127 the tracks move rapidly. In fact, they move fast enough without a load that the bot would really be traveling if I set it on the ground.
This is not the behavior I would like. I suspect that this might be the H-bridge, which, as the name implies, is a pretty simple one. Can anybody advise me whether this is likely the issue, and point me towards an H-bridge that will be better suited.
