So, I install them in the turret and it works fine.:D, the panner is then unused.

Thanks a lot for help.

RE: Sharp IR Panner on Traxster II

And by the way, you won't be able to mount the IR Panner and CMUcam2+ turret simultaneously. Since they provide the same functionality, I don't know why you would want to do this anyway, unless you wanted to add rear facing IRs using the IR Panner. In this case, you would have to add holes (somewhere). :)

Best Regards!

RE: Sharp IR Panner on Traxster II

Frank,

Ahh yes! I need to add that don't I? :)

There are four holes in the top of the Traxster II chassis that match those of servos. The Traxster II kit should have included four, 1" standoffs, and associated screws and nuts.

Bolt the four 1" aluminum standoffs to the top of the Traxster II chassis by inserting the threaded male end of the standoffs through the holes, and secure them underneath using four 4-40 nuts.

This is actually all included in assembly step #1 in the Traxster II assembly manual.

Then, place the rubber grommets in the servo mounting holes, and bolt it to the female ends of the 1" standoffs using the included 4-40 x 3/8" flat head phillips screws. The servo will be sitting on top of the Traxster II chassis at this point. You can then attach one of the servo horns to the IR panner using the included small #2 screws, and then attach that to the servo. Then, bolt your Sharp IR sensors to the face of the IR panner using the 4-40 x 3/8" pan head phillips screws. Finally, route and connect your cables, and secure them to the IR Panner using the included tie wraps.

Let me know if you need any more info...I'll get the assembly manual updated later this week.

Best Regards!

Sharp IR Panner on Traxster II

Jason,

I've just received my Traxster II. Thank you. Following the assembly instructions, I have tried to install my IR panner on the robot base but there is only informations on the IR sensor mount installation and not on the Sharp IR Panner. As I have also the CMUCAM Pan & tilt turret I cannot use the place dedicated for it.

Is the only solution is to make holes on the base to install it ?

thanks and regrads,

Frank.
