Hello I have some questions about the 7.2V 100ozin DC Gearhead Motor with encoder.
1. Is the motor Unipolar or Bipolar?
2. What motor driver should I use, or what type. I have pololu single and double channel drivers already.
3. what PWM frequency do these like, (or is that dictated by driver)?
4. What is the continous torque of the motor?
5. What is the current draw of the Encoder?
Thanks,
Mike

i too wanted these details. I am running some simulations and i need to calculate the motor efficiency.

can you please tell me the following:
1) What is the no load torque of the motor.

2) How heavy a robot can i make with these motors ( i just need an approximate range to get a rough idea).

Hi,

I've just got my Traxster chassis and need some information about howto use the motor's quadrature encoder as I'm not using a Serializer board.

How do I connect the encoders to my Atmel AVR?

Thanks,

Christoph

Hi guys,

For those that can't use the search utility on this forum, motor specs are here: http://www.roboticsconnection.com/userForums/Topic665-16-1.aspx?Highlight=motor+spec

The motor encoders should be like most quadrature encoders.

+v, ch-a, ch-b, gnd

the Serializer layout is [B A GND Vcc]

Turning my serializer on and measuring shows me there is +5Vcc. So you are dealing with TTL voltage levels at A & B. I believe the encoder color codes are on the spec sheet linked above. You might verify the encoder wire color codes before trying anything.

I hope this helps you to interface the motor encoders.

And Perhaps the data needed on the motors is in the spec.

Update: See the motor product page for a better view of the motor specs. There is a dead link within the previous link posted.
