| Is the blue tooth module still available? I found one on another web site but would like to buy everything from RoboticsConnection.com. Thanks

No, we decided to use the XBee modules for all of our products going forward. They had less issues (e.g. having the correct BT stack installed in your OS), than the Xbee modules did. The Xbee modules always work, and make our life easier (especially from a support standpoint!). Best Regards,

Hi Gstacy,
I might add that the XBee has better range that Bluetooth as well.
I started with Xbee and am pleased I did.

| Thanks for the quick response. I am working on a robot that uses a Dell Axim X50V. Does anyone know if it is possible to interface with the Serializer board not using bluetooth? Range is not a issue because the Axim will be mounted to the robot with the Serializer controller.

You have to use the BT connection...There's no way (that I found) to connect via the docking port on the bottom (I spent a few days trying to hack a connector, w/o luck). I had a Dell Axim X50V, but sold it. It was still a very cool WinCE brain for the Serializer/Robot though! Best Regards!

Don't want to hijack a thread, but wanted to offer up an option w.r.t. Dell's Axim PDA:
I have a Dell Axim x51v and purchased a wired RS232 port that connects to the dock connector at the bottom of the unit, and even includes a power input so that you can power the PDA from a separate DC supply. I found the serial adapter at www.gomadic.com. However, a quick browse doesn't show Axim serial adapters anymore, but they may be available.
However, I was successful in using Bluetooth with a A7eng eb301 Bluetooth module paired with the Axim (and even had the PS3 bluetooth keyboard connect as well). I used a piece of software that I bought for the PDA called MobileVT by Daniele Pedrazzini (about $40 IIRC, but likely the most useful for this ancient piece of kit).
If I knew how to program the WinCE device, I would love to use it as the brains for the Traxster. BTW, I'm using the Windows 6.1, obtained from http://htcgeeks.com (Lenny Shell or something like that).
Have fun,

Because I thing Bluetooth is a very useful and easy technology for applications in the field of mobile robotics.
Bluetooth modules usually contain both chips (radio & host controller), included the HCI software (you don’t need to program it). The only thing you have to connect is an antenna, which can be quite simple
