Hi Dizzy,
I am glad you have comm's once again 
I recommend setting the XBee's at 19200 or maybe
57600 if you must.
I have had excellent results with serial comm's at 19200 with
my XBee's and that is reading three IR's and a EZ3 and batt.
I will soon try it with four IR and the EZ3 with batt. All this while
the bot is driving around avoiding objects as it finds its way and
using my laptop for brains.
