| I think it would be prudent to include a heartbeat function into the serializer. If for some reason (application crash, signal lost, or usb/rs232 becomes disconnected) an ALL STOP command would be issued to the motors. This would prevent the bot from running off a cliff (or better yet into my walls or furniature ) What does everyone think? -Xphile1999

| I think this is a good idea. We'll try to get it shoe-horned in over the Christmas holidays. We'll also ensure that you can enable/disable this feature, and possible configure the heartbeat interval. Thanks for the suggestion! Best Regards!

I am late to respond but I agree Xphile.
The heartbeat you suggest would eliminate having to add a
processor on board just to handle possible communication failures.
I am a big fan of fail safe mechanisms.
