Hi Dizzy,
more power (4500mA) means longer running time which is a good thing.
On the top link select connector drop down and select the male Tamiya.

Its the voltage that is more critical. I understand that over 12vDC will
overheat a Serializer. Not having a Serializer v3, I am not certain how
the servo power (5 to 6vDC)is derived. The previous version had a servo
regulator on board.

Thanks Don, you are most helpful as usual. I may have looked at an outdated manual: http://www.roboticsconnection.com/multimedia/docs/Serializer_3.0_UserGuide.pdf

I was looking at the diagram on page 9 and it seems from that diagram i'm not sure how you would connect a batter with a Tamiya connector the board. From that diagram it looks like you would need to separate batters without the connectors?

Hi Dizzy, I was assuming you had the power connector/switch that comes with the
Traxter and Swinger.

If not then you could hook the battery straight to the Serializer.

Ah, i see.
I don't have anything yet. Placed my order yesterday and was looking next to purchase batteries. I guess i needed to add that to the order.

I dont know what you ordered but like I said the wiring harness comes with the
Stinger and Traxster kits. Also, the tamiya conn makes it easier to attach a charger
or swap batteries on the fly. I dunno if the charger you spec'd includes a female tamiya?

I would suggest a 9.6V battery with a high amp/hour rating 2.0Ah or better.   Running a 12V battery will work, but it does have to bleed off voltage in the form of heat (wasting the battery).  We did add a heat-sink to the new Serializer 3.0 to make sure it stays cool at 12V or less, but I wouldn't go over 12V (onboard regulator not rated at > 12V).
